MAFO's mission is to bring together adoption, orphan care, and other like ministries from various Christian churches and organizations in Minnesota by encouraging cooperation, and the sharing of ideas, as we work on common goals to meet the needs of children and families.
We hope to do this through educational/awareness activities, family support and preservation efforts, thoughtful and informed international orphan care, orphan prevention, and advocacy. Our concern is the care of any and all "at-risk" children--including kids in foster care, kids with special needs, kids who are being trafficked, those in orphanages and those living on the streets. Our hope it that the alliance will provide a collaborative environment for these ministries to strengthen their impact on behalf of orphaned and other vulnerable children. We welcome the participation of those groups and organizations that are not expressly Christian, and hope that our interactions will be grace-filled and mindfully based on a common concern for vulnerable children even if we do not always agree on all points.
We hope that all advocates of these children will, like MAFO, have the consistent goal of becoming more and more knowledgeable regarding best practices of vulnerable child care, so that our "help" does not "hurt". We believe that we have much to learn from each other.
Though the names are similar, the Minnesota Alliance for Orphans is not associated with the Christian Alliance for Orphans, though we admire and seek to emulate their good work. Any errors we make are wholly our own.
